If the substrate is "plane" as it should be I don't see a problem with adding the cuts assuming you still have the tabs in place on the adjacent full tiles.

If the substrate is not plane...
I'm not sure what Avaire would recommend but I personally would use an adhesive for those short tile pieces in this case. Adhering those few short pieces to the substrate at the doorway would gaurantee they wouldn't move if the substrate is iffy at that location.

Edge pieces

I have installed Avaire tile in my newly finished basement. I misjudged where a door going into a bathroom would hit and need to add about four inches of Avaire tile to have the transition going from the stone to linoleum fall under the doorway. Is this okay or does it make the edge pieces too suceptible popping apart? Please respond quickly. Thank you.
