My avaire samples I planned to put down over top of old parkay flooring meet my new hardwood flooring about 3/8 " higher than the hardwood. Is it possible to transition to the hardwood from that hieght difference?

If you use a standard thickness laminate hardsurface reducer it should transition perfectly. Most wood floor manufactures offer a 3/8" reducer in most stain colors.
