Usually, some rubbing will remove any adhesive residue on the tile surface.

We've investigated with the adhesive manufacturer and they recommend Xylene to remove any cured adhesive from the tile surface.

We also tried Acetone using a cloth and with some rubbing, the adhesive residue came right off. Like most household solvents, you'll want to ventilate the area well and avoid inhaling the fumes. Also, don't spill the Acetone onto the plastic interlocking tabs - it will soften the plastic.

Acetone is available in the paint department of most hardware stores. I bought a quart container for less than $10.

These are strong chemicals. They should not be allowed to stand on the tile, and they should not be allowed to come in contact with the grout.
