As long as the floor is flat within tolerance( 1/4"-10' or 1/8"-6' ) you will be okay using a laminate underlayment.
When you butt the Avaire tile up to the wood floor you will want to use a small amount of silicone adhesive to hold the tiles firmly at the edge since you aren't using an overlapping moulding. Also use a color matched caulk instead of the Avaire flexible grout. It's a great grout,but doesn't quite have enough flexibility to accomodate the floating floor and the expansion and contraction of a wood floor.
