Default Question about adding more tile later

Right now I am tiling my kitchen but I would like to eventually continue it on to my front door, into my foyer. I just dont know if I will have the time/money to complete the entire project right now. Is there any problem with continuing on at a later time and tying it in with the kitchen?

Krista you should keep in mind that each lot of tile manufactured can have shading variances from any previous lot. You shouldn't expect a perfect match sometime down the road.

Well I guess that is true. So if I bought the tile the tile now but didnt install it, would it be an issue to extend it? Continuing on to the front door is going to require adding sub flooring/leveling and I just dont have time right now. But I would like to eventually.

If you go ahead and buy the tile now you won't go wrong as long as you are sure to buy enough.

The only issue I see is where the tile splices later you will have to consider that when you terminate the tile now.

If you can simply leave the tile whole (tabs and all) at what will be the future splice-line then no problem to continue later.
