tile on a trap door

Date: 1/23/2009 1:49 pm EDT We are installing avaire tile in our Kitchen and laundry room and there is a trap door going down to our crawl space basement which we need to access. What would be the best way to install tiles over the trap door -- it will probably use about 9 tiles? Thanks,
